It is critical that the banksides of ponds, lakes and watercourses are fit for their intended purpose, and are visually suited for the application. For example, erosion caused from moving or fluctuating water, whether naturally occurring or from human water sport activities can damage banks, causing soil erosion, habitat loss, and safety issues. Watercourses will typically suffer with soil loss and root structure damaged when they have been allowed to erode from high water flows, or when original watercourses have been straightened causing higher water velocity.
